SAYT1014 Towards Modern Algebra 近世代數初探

This course has offered an opportunity for me to delve into the basic concepts of algebra and get a taste of studying at university. For me, I believe this course is really suitable for students who enjoy challenging themselves and are interested in Pure Mathematics, which is totally different from Mathematics at the junior level.
This course has indeed broadened my horizons. In fact, as the learning pace was very intense and I did not have any basic knowledge of advanced algebra, I could not absorb some knowledge during lectures. However, tutorials held by teacher assistants after lectures have truly helped us to clarify our understanding and grasp the materials. In my opinion, the most effective way to learn new knowledge is to seek help from teacher assistants when faced with challenges. They were really nice and helped me a lot when I was struggling with difficult concepts.

I have greatly benefited from participating in the 'Towards Modern Algebra' course held by the Chinese University. The course consisted of 12 chapters, including group theory, field theory, quartic equations, and more. The morning lectures were followed by a 3-hour tutorial session.
During the tutorials, the teacher assistants, who were university students studying Enrichment Mathematics, patiently answered our questions about the lecture content, helping me to better understand the course. While I may not have fully grasped all the concepts, I believe that the course has established a strong foundation for my future Mathematics lessons at school.
